What is a Pincode?
Pincode
A Postal Index Number (PIN) or Pincode is a six-digit code in the Indian postal code system. The postal index system in India assigns every city, town and village a unique number. The PIN system celebrated its 50th anniversary on 15 August 2022.
How does a Pincode look like? How can we read it?
These PIN are six digits long, with the first digit denoting the state, the second number representing the region, the third for the sorting district and the last three digits for the post office code.
How many PIN Zones are in India?
There are 9 PIN zones across India. Out of these 9 zones, 8 zones are regional zones and 1 functional zones( for Indian Army).
